Ashley Marie is a multidisciplinary artist based in Metro Detroit. Drawing from personal experiences of grief, spirituality, and healing, her work explores the liminal space between the physical and spiritual realms. Primarily working in oil paint, she merges realism with ethereal qualities to evoke the unseen forces that shape our existence.
In addition to her studio practice, Ashley is an Adjunct Instructor in the Illustration Department at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit.
Her work has been exhibited in group shows across the U.S., including the Atlanta Art Fair, and was featured in a solo exhibition at M Contemporary Art in 2024. She is a former Red Bull House of Art resident, with work included in the Imago Mundi collection. Her paintings have been highlighted by Artsy and Detroit Metro Times.
My work explores the space between physical and spiritual realms, guided by themes of grief, healing, and transcendence. Emotive color plays a central role in my practice, particularly green, which symbolizes the heart chakra and evokes growth and healing. These qualities, also inherent in nature, emphasize the connection between the physical and spiritual realms. Through my work, I strive to inspire viewers to reflect on their own spiritual nature.
